POSITIVE WEEKEND FOR I.S.R. RACING IN ADAC GT MASTERS 2019 AT RED BULL RING

09.06.2019 – Two points-scoring results characterized I.S.R. racing’s weekend at the Red Bull Ring (A) during the third round of ADAC GT Masters 2019.

The Czech outfit was resolute to score an important result on the Austrian circuit and fielded the #33 Audi R8 LMS driven by Frank Stippler (GER) and Filip Salaquarda (CZ). The pairing showed the potential to be among the protagonists since free practice putting in very good lap times.

In Q1 Salaquarda hit some troubles with the tyres and closed his effort in P21 with a best time of 1’29.442s. In the qualifying session on Sunday morning Stippler found a good feeling with the car and posted a 1’29.070s that earned him P14.

I.S.R. racing drivers put in an amazing comeback race one, as Salaquarda first and Stippler afterwards managed the car well in the mid-field heat, closing the race not far from the top ten, in eleventh place. This result secured them the first points of the season.

Premises were good ahead of race two and Stippler started driving fast and keeping a constant pace. The team adopted an efficient strategy that could have allowed the car to close well within the top ten. Unfortunately, a problem to the pit limiter cost the pairing a drive-through penalty that forced them to concede several positions. Salaquarda put in a good pace in the second stint and crossed the finish line in P13, which earned some more points.

Igor Salaquarda (I.S.R. racing, Team Principal):
“We certainly had a good weekend: drivers and engineers worked a lot and this allowed them to improve the feeling with the car from session to session. It was disappointing to score below expectations in Q1 as the starting position in race one prevented us from ending the race in the top ten. The penalty in race two complicated our race a bit, but the overall result is positive nevertheless. We still have some margin, but we bring home a double points-scoring result which motivates us ahead of the next appointments”.

I.S.R. racing will resume its ADAC GT Masters campaign next August 9-11th in Zandvoort (NL).
